PRESS RELEASE: Nakama London prepares for growth with three new hires

Data and Events Marketing hires ensure Nakama London’s future growth plans

Nakama Group plc (AIM: NAK), the AIM quoted international recruitment consultancy providing staff for the Web, Interactive, Digital media, IT and Business Change sectors, has appointed three new consultants to the London office across their Data and Analytics and Events Marketing teams. The new hires are a timely response to the strong growth the Group has seen both in these markets and across their London and recently launched New York offices.

Experienced recruitment consultant, Mark Stevenson, joins Nakama London from Salt Recruitment and has been appointed to the position of sales manager. The team also welcomes Samuel King, joining from the consultancy firm Datatech, as a senior consultant. Samuel will be working closely with Mark recruiting for data science and analytics roles across both the London and New York offices. Both new consultants possess a wealth of experience in building data teams both nationally and internationally.

Mark Stevenson commented: “Data is big. It is influencing and disrupting our cities, businesses; transforming the way organisations speak to their customers and to each other. We are able to draw parallels between the London and New York recruitment scenes. Clients here and abroad share the same vision for their data and analytics teams and we are able to connect them with experienced specialist candidates.”

“I totally agree with Mark”, added Samuel King. “The market is experiencing a boom; the world of data science is buzzing and it’s an exciting time to be a part of it. For candidates looking to make the move, there are some truly interesting opportunities emerging across a raft of new industries.”

Fiona Craig, also joins the London team from Stopgap, where she will be focused on growing the events marketing and digital marketing roles within the creative agency sector.

“Effective campaigns encompass a multi-channel approach, integrating the online and offline experience”, Fiona added. “I’m excited about joining the

Nakama business as it looks set to further expand from its strong digital heritage within the experiential environment”.

Paul Goodship, Managing Director Nakama London commented:

“Our vision is clearly set for growth. I am very pleased to welcome these new senior hires who will enable Nakama to scale our digital recruitment service lines both in London and New York.”

NAKAMA After Hours: Greg Goorwitch

StickmenStage

Get to know what our consultants are up to when they’re not busy recruiting!

Nakama London – Greg Goorwitch – Manager – Digital Marketing, Analytics & Performance

Greg, what do you get up to when you aren’t busy recruiting for Digital Marketing?

I write music and play in a band called Stickman Cartel. I also make electronic music and I’m working on improving my music production/producer CV.

When did you start playing the keyboard and what was your first live performance?

I started playing the piano at age four. Anyone that heard me play back then would describe me as “playing the piano like a 4 year old”.

My first live performance was at school, at age five where I played my grade 1 “stuff”. It was quite Avant-garde. I wore a black polo neck and sunglasses. By six I was playing the blues piano channeling all of the frustrations of a six year old, you know, eat food you don’t want to eat and going to bed at a certain time, so unfair, but that’s the blues I suppose. By seven, I was going through my Velvet Underground inspired phase. It lasted six months and was a difficult time for my parents. I now play the Synth/keyboard, which is easier than the piano. I have recently been described as “playing the keyboard like a 4 year old”.

Who would you say your music is inspired by?

Stickman Cartel make music influenced by Deep House, Disco and a sprinkle of Trance but played by humans with instruments. We generally layer everything on stage to recreate a dance music production but still have the organic sound of an indie band.  Bloc Party, Foals and Friendly Fires have been major reference points.

When did you form the band and how long have you all been playing together?

I have been in bands since 18. We formed Stickman Cartel in 2009 and are still together. We play at a rate of about one gig a month.

As a band what would you say is your biggest achievement yet?

We have played Glastonbury twice.  Last year we played the Rabbit Hole at Glastonbury – we had an 8pm slot and then we were asked to come back and do another set at 2am. Definitely two different crowds – the 2am crowd were better!

You’ve performed in a lot of venues around London, any funny/interesting stories you can share?

We once played to an empty room supporting a band with a bearded lady. The bearded lady had a costume change half way through the set. I felt that it amplified the emptiness of the room. I feel you need at least 1000 people to justify a costume change during a set.

We once did a gig at The Social in Little Titchfield Street – where the stage was so small I had to sit with my synth at a dinner booth that was just on the side of the stage.  I ordered some fries during the set.

It sounds like the sky’s the limit! Where do you want the band to be five years from now – what’s next for the Stickmen?

Not overly ambitious – XMAS No 1, Break America and move up to the Pyramid Stage (ideally the Sunday Legend slot – like Dolly or Lionel). On a personal note I would also like to play the piano like a 5 year old.

Where can we listen to your music?

Meet Holly Cook, our new Resourcer for Digital Marketing

Holly Cook

Name: Holly Cook

Title: Resourcer – Digital Marketing

What do you recruit for? I resource for the Digital Marketing Team – working on roles for CRM Managers, Web Analysts, PPC, SEO and Biddable Media and eCommerce.

What are you known for professionally? I’m a real people person and can talk to anyone! This has always driven me to take on positions that have given me the opportunity to meet new people. It makes no two days the same!

What do you love about recruitment? Talking to people, hearing about their careers especially in the constantly changing digital marketing industry – the candidates I speak to have worked in some really interesting roles, but also hearing about their lives outside of work – it makes your world a lot smaller. In my first week, I learnt one of my candidates lived in my area!

What intrigues you about the world of Digital Marketing? I’m fairly new to the world of Digital Marketing, but it’s so fascinating. Everything from the emerging digital channels that weren’t available five years ago to the data available and the people behind the scenes analyzing it. It’s constantly evolving and that’s exciting.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done while being in London? I once spoke at Wembley arena in front of 8,000 people at a youth conference! I was really nervous and at the last minute I was asked to join the dance procession – luckily I didn’t have to dance just hold a giant glowing ball. Also, the change rooms we had 1Direction had previously used – I was pretty excited about that.

What would be impossible for you to give up? The TV show – Don’t tell the bride and Grapefruit squash! (I’m addicted).

What is your social media channel of choice? Instagram – I love that you can explore the world in real-time through images and I like to post shots – mostly of food, family and my cat.

Any hidden talents you want to let us know about? Well it’s a talent I don’t have! I can’t wink… and I used to be a ballerina – the wooden block shoes were painful!

If you’re looking got a role in Digital Marketing speak to Holly if you’re free! P: 0203 588 4569 E: hcook@nakamalondon.com
