2015 is well and truly underway and London’s job market has really picked up in the booming digital space. At Nakama we cover digital recruitment for design and creative, marketing and technology. Our team here in London have put their heads together and over the next few days we’ll be sharing overviews of each market to give digital job hunters a look at how things are shaping up for the year across their sectors – Take a look at the second in our series – Marketing – Contract:
Social Media and Content Marketing
Good Content Strategists and Managers who have a flair for engaging consumers have been in high demand since the beginning of the year (as in 2014), as brands are moving away from traditional marketing to a more targeted and valuable content-led approach. A proper content strategy ensures that the right audience for your brand is being spoken to and the various channels of social media help to amplify this. After a slightly quieter start in January, as people detoxed from the onslaught of social media over the festive period, recruitment for social specialists who base their creative in analytics has become extremely busy, with brands really wanting to see a rise in engagement rather than just followers on Facebook and Twitter. With the arrival of (fingers crossed!) Spring, recruitment for both agency and client-side seems to be at a peak across both areas with no sign that it will be slowing down the forthcoming quarter. Mid-level roles seem to be the most popular in social, with slightly more experience being sought after for copywriters and senior vacancies for content. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you fancy a new job for the beginning of what looks to be an extremely profitable 2015 for the London economy.

The demand for technically savvy Project Managers is really picking up in 2015 as brands are looking for more inventive ways to connect with their consumers, largely through mobile-first strategy. Experience in responsive design is particularly sought after as well as application builds, DOOH and augmented reality. The true holy grail of PMs at the moment is someone who is both creative and tech-savvy – a PM who can conceive, plan and deliver a variety of projects, whilst understanding the viability of ideas and alterations based on the time and budget allotted to this particular project. For this reason the demand for great Project Managers has been constant on the permanent side so far this year. Freelance has had a slow start but is now gaining momentum and we’re seeing a lot more roles come through at various levels for both Digital and Integrated Project Managers with a variety of deliverables. Please do get in touch if you’re looking for a change- the market is strong and there is a large variety of roles available at the moment.
